Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2012
Inducted : March 2013, Syracuse, NY
Steve began his USSSA career in the mid 1970’s by becoming a member of the Central New York Softball Umpires Association. He continued umpiring until his sudden passing in 2012. During his many years as an Umpire, Steve had the opportunity to Officiate in various Local, State, and Divisional Tournaments. Steve also served as a member of the Central New York Softball Umpires Association Executive Board.
Shortly after getting involved with USSSA, Steve along with fellow Hall of Fame member Dick Staussstarted the Camillus Men’s Softball League. During the summer session teams played two nights a week and in the fall session teams played double headers on Sunday mornings. Over the years Steve developed a reputation for his leadership and willingness to accommodate the teams. Over the years, some of the areas better teams have played in his league. It is due to his leadership and dedication that his leagues will still be run within the town of Camillus in his memory.
Steve was a devoted husband and father as well as a loyal member of the Central New York USSSA family. He could always be counted on to step up to the plate and will be greatly missed by the Central New York Community.
